Very snotty out today down south. Went with my dad, my friend, and his dad. Got a late start due to dead truck batteries and gas station pumps not working. About 10-15 miles north of the hidden we farmed one on a TON of crashing birds and porpoise. birds and porpoise kinda broke up after that, so we stuck the trollers in. Within 30 minutes, around 9:30, we got a triple jig strike, landing two. water was around 66-67 around the hidden. Decided to throw the rag early as the weather worsened and fishing seemed to die down....
Launched out of SI at 4 AM on Thursday Sep 2nd on my first offshore trip on my own boat... I have only been able to go out to the 9 mile bank for nothing in the past. Decided to hit a spot closer...
just back from spending the last couple days down in that nice funnel of water pushing up on to our local banks and i'm happy to tell you that it's game time fellas....
we ended up with 6 Blue Fin Tuna and 12 Yellow Fin Tuna, almost all bait fish. 40-60 miles from the Point. found fish under birds, on kelp and mammal. good volume out there, nice quality too.
super fun 2 days of fishing, stoked to see the they're here!
Went along with Boog today as an extra set of eyes with Gyros. Managed 6 Yellow Fin Tuna to say 30 pounds legit. Also had 3 Yellowtail to 12 pounds. I am not sure exactly where we were, but the general area has been posted in other threads. Just use the water temp charts and stay in the warmer water.
From the top of the wheelhouse I saw a few leaping Dorado and one...
Started with the fleet just outside of the upper 500. Lots of meter marks about 120 ft down with big areas of krill at the same level. Got just one to die on a yoyoed jig snagged near the tail. We were real lucky we got that fish. Wore my new lucky cap today. That did it. We thank the Sherminator for donating the funds for the caps....
The bite was slow for us yesterday 8/31. We arrived in the zone at gray light and fished down between the Upper 500 and the 1010 Trench. It was a bit windy and sloppy but manageable. The majority of the fleet began the day here and as the day went on everyone spread out as the zone was not that hot. The water was the right color, 65.5 - 67, and the fish were...
